JAMBOORE : GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
1.
A student from a branch can take part in a maximum of five events.
2.
The representatives from each branch will have to fill in the
following details to the Student President, Leo Club on or before 02/11/2013, through
their respective staff convenors.
•A list of students participating in Jamboree-2013 along with
the events that each individual is taking part in.
•Branch representatives are requested to furnish the correct
details of the participants (full name and USN) for
the entire events.
Note: No request for
change of names after the commencement of events will be entertained.
3.
The final positions of the teams for each event will be
written by the judges in ball point pen on the score sheet.
4.
The results will be announced at the main stage following the
conclusion of the event (few events shall be an exception).
5.
Under no circumstances shall the judge’s score sheets be
shown to any of the students or the staff members.
6.
The use of any kind of alcoholic, inflammable or explosive
materials on the stage is strictly prohibited, including candles, lamps etc.
7.
It is the responsibility of the branch representatives,
participants and the staff convenors to make sure that no disturbances are
caused by students of their branch during the conduction of the events.
8.
The slots for the order of participation will be decided by a
draw of lots on the day of the event. Please note that any requests to
interchange of the allotted slot will be entertained only on mutual agreement,
which is presented in writing and signed by the concerned staff convenors.
9.
The participating teams
have to report at least 15 minutes in advance at the respective venue for all
the events. A delay, in excess of 10 minutes, will lead to immediate
disqualification of the team.
10.
In events that involve a preliminary screening of teams for
the final round of the competitions, the order of merit of non-qualifying teams
would be based on their respective performances in the preliminary rounds.
11.
The judge’s decisions regarding the event are final and
binding on all the participants.
12.
The organisers’ decision regarding any aspect of Jamboree 2013 and all the events
therein will be final and binding on all the participants.
13.
Further change of rules and regulations, if any, will be
intimated through the concerned staff convenors and student representatives.
14.
Violation of any rule can attract penal actions including
barring the team from the contest.
15.
Ry-Theme Dance, Thala-Mela, Product Launch, Mock Rock,
Broadway and Pantomime Show events shall be screened and approved by the staff
convenors.

RULES FOR
CULTURAL EVENTS
SOLO
SINGING:
1.
Only one participant per branch.
2.
Participants will have to sing one full movie song.
3.
Only Hindi or Kannada songs are allowed.
4.
The participants are advised to announce the name of the singer
and the movie from which the song has been taken.
5.
A maximum of two accompaniments are allowed per participant.
However, the students playing the accompaniments have to be of the same branch
as that of the singer.
6.
Shruthi box and karaoke (without chorus) are allowed as
accompaniments.
7.
The decision of the judges and the organizers is final and
binding on all the participants.
DUET SINGING:
1.
Maximum of two members per team and one team per branch is
allowed.
2.
The participants will have to sing one full movie song.
3.
Only Hindi or Kannada movie songs are allowed.
4.
The participants are advised to announce the name of the
singer and the movie from which the song has been taken.
5.
A maximum of two accompaniments are allowed per participant.
However, the students playing the accompaniments have to be of the same branch
as that of the singer.
6.
Shruthi box and karaoke (without chorus) are allowed as
accompaniments.

The decision of the judges and the organizers are final and
binding on all the participants.
RY-THEME
DANCE:
1.
A minimum of six and maximum of ten members per team and one
team per branch are allowed.
2.
The theme given should be strictly followed.
3.
Time will be allotted as
follows:
•Stage setting
- 2 minutes
•Performance -
6+1 minutes
4.
A warning bell will be
sounded after 1.5 minutes of stage setting and again after 6 minutes of the performance.
5.
Every additional 15 seconds will lead to negation of 1 point.
6.
Indecent exposure or
indecent steps will lead to negative marking.
7.
Song storage device shall be a CD or a pen drive.
8.
The stage should be cleared after the performance and the
initial condition of the stage should be restored for the next team. If the
stage is not cleared within 1 minute it will lead to negation of points.
9.
Usage of any backdrop/flex is strictly not allowed. Only
necessary props can be used.
10.
Judging criteria are strict
adherence to the theme,
costumes, props, creativity, synchronization and stage setting.
11.
The decision of the judges and organizers will be final and
binding on all the teams.
12.
The use of props such as alcoholic, inflammable or explosive
materials including candles, lamps etc., are strictly prohibited.
PANTOMIME
SHOW:
1.
One team per branch consisting of a minimum of five and a
maximum of seven participants are allowed.
2.
The time allocation is as follows:
• Performance –
5 minutes.
3.
Warning bell will be sounded after 4 minutes of the
performance.
4.
Every additional 15 seconds will lead to negation of 1 point.
5.
The stage should be cleared after the performance and the
initial condition of the stage should be restored for the next team. If the
stage is not cleared within a minute it will lead to negation of points.
6.
Any kind of prop usage is
strictly prohibited.
7.
Background scores should be strictly instrumental. Speech of
any form will not be allowed and will lead to immediate disqualification.
8.
Judging will be based on creativity, enacting and theme of
the act.
9.
The decision of judges and the organizers will be final and
binding on all teams and participants.
BROADWAY:
1.
One team per branch with a minimum of five and maximum of ten
participants.
2.
The team is required to present a play on any theme.
3.
Time given is 1+8 minutes, 1 minute for stage setting and 8
minutes for performance.
4.
Props may be utilised for the event.
5.
Any form of recordings or background score is strictly
prohibited. Instrumental live music is allowed.
6.
Vulgarity and obscene acts will lead to instant
disqualification of the participants.
7.
A warning bell will be sounded after 7 minutes and a final
bell after 8 minutes. Every additional 15 seconds will lead to negation of one point.
8.
The decision of the judges and the organisers will be final
and binding on all the teams.
9.
Judging criteria are use of props, theme and enacting.
SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT:
1.
One participant per branch.
2.
Time allocation is as follows:
•Stage setting- 1minute
•Performance- 3 minutes
3.
A warning bell will be sounded after 2 minutes
and a final bell at the end of 3 minutes.
4.
Any performance
involving dialogues or a script has to be attested by the staff-convenors.
Vulgarity and obscene acts will lead to instant disqualification of the
participants.
5.
The decision of the judges and the organizers are
final and binding on all the participants.
DOUBLE THADKA:
1.
One participant per branch.
2.
Time allocation is as follows:
• Stage setting- 1
minute
•
Performance- 4+1 minutes

THALA-MELA:

A minimum of six and maximum of ten members per team and one
team per branch are allowed.
2.
Time allocation is as follows:
•Stage
setting: 1 minute
•Performance:
5+1 minutes
3.
Warning bell will be sounded after 4 minutes of the
performance.
4.
Every additional 15 seconds will lead to negation of 1 point.
5.
Each team should compulsorily have two groups performing on
two different dance forms with respective costumes.
6.
Judging will be based on co-ordination, presentation, dance
forms and creativity.
7.
Dance forms should be
strictly followed to avoid negation of points.
8.
Indecent exposure or
indecent steps will lead to negative marking.
9.
Song storage device shall be a CD or a pen drive.
10.
The stage should be cleared after the performance and the
initial condition of the stage should be restored for the next team. If the
stage is not cleared within 1 minute it will lead to negation of points.

ROCK:

A warning bell will be sounded after 5 minutes of the
performance.
4.
Every additional 15 seconds will lead to negation of 1 point.
5.
The stage should be cleared after the performance and the
initial condition of the stage should be restored for the next team.
6.
All teams will be allowed to use props. No real instruments
should be brought on stage.
7.
Song storage device shall be a CD or pen drive.
8.
The decision of the judges and the organizers will be final
and binding on all the participating teams.
9.
The use of props such as alcoholic, inflammable or explosive
materials including candles, lamps etc., are strictly prohibited.
PRODUCT LAUNCH:
1.
One team per branch with a minimum of four and a maximum of
six participants.
2.
The time allocation is as follows:
•Stage setting-1minute
•Performance-4+1 minutes
3.
The scripts have to be attested by the staff-convenors of the
respective branches and submitted to the Leo club.
4.
Props may be utilised for the event.
5.
Any form of recordings or background score is strictly
prohibited.
6.

will lead to instant disqualification of the team.
7.
A warning bell will be sounded after 3 minutes and a final
bell after 4 minutes.
8.

RULES FOR LITERARY EVENTS
PICK N SPEAK:
1.
Only one participant per branch.
2.
Topics will be given on the spot.
3.
Oration should be in English only. No phrases, sayings or
quotes in other languages will be allowed.
4.
Time given for each participant will be 90 seconds
(preparation) +180 seconds (performance).
5.
A bell will be sounded after 150 seconds and finally after
180 seconds.
6.
Every additional 15 seconds will lead to negation of one
point.
7.
Points are awarded for ingenuity, convincible speaking,
humour, fluent oration and vocabulary.
8.
Vulgarity in speech, of any sort will lead to immediate
disqualification.
9.
Decision of judges and organizers will be final and binding
on all the teams.
